Care Campaign For The Vulnerable Visits Holy Cross Care Home

On Thursday 23rd October, Care Campaign for the Vulnerable (CCFTV) was warmly welcomed to Holy Cross Care Home in Heathfield, East Sussex, for an open discussion with the management team, staff, and residents about the role of safety monitoring in care.

The visit followed an invitation from Home Manager Jackie Law and her team, who are exploring ways to strengthen safety and transparency within their service while maintaining the highest respect for residents’ privacy, dignity, and independence.

The meeting offered an opportunity for honest, two-way conversation. Staff were encouraged to share their thoughts and questions, and residents spoke about what safety means to them personally. While there were natural concerns around the balance between privacy and oversight, the discussion remained thoughtful and constructive –  focused on how technology, when implemented sensitively, can enhance safety for both residents and carers.

Many staff expressed that, once the principles of choice, consent, and dignity were clearly understood, they could see how safety monitoring could be used positively to protect both residents and care teams, strengthen trust, and support transparency across the home. Several team members said they simply wanted reassurance — to understand that the technology is not about surveillance or criticism, but about safety, fairness, and ensuring that good care is recognised and supported.

It was encouraging to see such engagement and openness. The team at Holy Cross demonstrated genuine commitment to ensuring that care remains safe, person-centred, and accountable, and their willingness to have these discussions highlights a progressive culture within the home.
